In the 1950s Hollywood’s A-list celebrities and pro golfers discovered Tamarisk Country Club, leaving their mark on the Club's early history. Since then our legendary golf course has evolved with the times and now we proudly unveil our newly renovated clubhouse. Tamarisk is a private club filled with member activities and clubhouse amenities.

History

Established in 1952, Tamarisk Country Club was only the second 18-hole private club in the Coachella Valley. The foundation of our club is defined by its rich history and storied traditions that were born in the early days of Rancho Mirage. Known as an oasis for well-known movie stars, producers, studio executives, and entrepreneurs to escape.

Our founding members included Hollywood A-listers in the 1950’s including Danny Kaye, Jack Benny, George Burns, and four of the five Marx Brothers; Groucho, Harpo, Zeppo, and Gummo to name just a few of the select “Golden 65” representing the founding members.

It certainly did not hurt to have one of the greatest golfers of all time, Ben Hogan, as the first Tamarisk Club Professional. Hogan won the Masters, The British Open, and the American Open (now known as the US Open) while actively serving as the Club Pro.

Tamarisk has played host to many political figures including President’s Dwight D. Eisenhower, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Gerald Ford.

Tamarisk was one of the four area clubs to play host to the inaugural Palm Springs Desert Classic in 1960 which would go on to become known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic. Recognized as one of the most popular and well-known celebrity golf tournaments; the Bob Hope Classic was played at Tamarisk 18 times. We are very proud of our rich history and the legacy that was forged during those early years.

Life at Tamarisk is about friendships, families, personalized service, and relaxation; founded on the traditions of elegance, hospitality and sophistication.
